The June 2016 Ever After Box was It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere. It’s a perfect theme for this time of year, full of fun, summery goodies. The bath and body products included a 2oz Sugar Scrub as well as a full size Moisturizing Lip Balm. Both were Margarita scented, with sweet lime blended with juicy orange and tangy tequila. The polish for June, named It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere, is a red leaning coral scattered holo with gold flecks and copper shimmer. The box also included some yummy watermelon gummy candies.
Sugar Scrub is a perfect body product for the summer, especially for those of us who have dry skin. The Margarita scent is very lime-y in the best way. It’s tempered by the notes of orange and tequila, and doesn’t overpower you. The citrus keeps it bright and fresh, with a sweetness from the sugar. It’s reminiscent of lime flavored popsicles, and reminds me of sitting outside on a summer night as a kid, trying to eat my popsicle before it melts. The scrub has a fine texture, unlike some coarser scrubs, so it’s gentle on the skin while still exfoliating and cleaning. It rinses easily and leaves behind a subtle Margarita scent. This is definitely a summer staple for me, especially handy after coming in from gardening and other summer activities.
I was really impressed by the Lip Balm, which had the same delightful scent as the Sugar Scrub. My lips have a tendency to drink up color and moisture, so it’s important to me to find lip products that are long lasting. I’ve also noticed that sometimes my lips feel drier after products are gone, so I try to avoid lip balms that seem to have this effect. Margarita Lip Balm did not disappoint. My lips felt moisturized and smooth for hours, and most importantly they felt better even after the product was fully absorbed. The scent is perfectly appealing for the hot weather. I’ll definitely be reaching for my Lip Balm for the rest of the summer.
It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere is a perfect coral, with blending orange, red, and pink to create a gorgeous shade. The polish has purple/pink and gold/orange shimmer that catches the light inside and outside. I would probably call it more of a shimmer than a holo, but regardless of how you describe it, the colors are quite complementary and play off of each other perfectly. It has one of the best formulas of any Ever After I’ve used. It’s an ideal consistency that applies evenly and dries quickly. I applied two thin coats to achieve opacity, and topped with a glossy top coat. I love how the polish looked in all types of light, shimmery and summery. Over the long weekend, my older sister also chose this polish when I gave her a pedi, and said “it’s the color of a fruity summer drink” and that she thinks “it’s a perfect color for summer” (and that I could quote her). Don’t worry, there aren’t any toe pics coming, at least not in this post (although you have very nice toes, sis). You also might notice my cuticles are still a bit stained from tie-dying over the weekend. Worth it!
As usual, I’m loving this month’s box. Not only do all of the products in the box fit the theme, but the theme is also seasonally appropriate. They maintain a wonderful variety month-to-month, so you’re not getting the same items over and over. The Ever After Box continues to be one of my favorite things to post, and I look forward to it every month. The July Box will be released on the 15th, themed Baby You’re a Firework. I can’t wait to see what will be inside!
