I’m Back from the Holidays, Happy New Year!

I’m Back, And I’m Sorry!

First of all, I have to apologize. December ended up being a crazy month, and after only posting once or twice, I realized it would probably just be best to take a break from the blog for the month. Not because I don’t love it, but because I just didn’t have the time to do it properly, and it ended up being more stressful than fun. I was stressed about being behind both in blog and in real life, and I needed to set some time to get caught up in real life. I should have posted when I made this choice, and apologize that I didn’t. I hope you’ll forgive me, because I have a lot in store for 2017, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

So What’s In Store for 2017?

Well, a lot, I hope. First of all, it’s just about my one year anniversary, and I have a special treat in store, including a giveaway! In addition to that, you can expect a lot of reviews for January, as it will be somewhat of a catchup month for me. I have two Julep collections to review, multiple Ever After boxes to share, and a few other carryovers from 2016 that I hope to cover. I don’t want to spend all year getting caught up, so beyond what’s planned for this month, I won’t be reviewing any of the other fabulous 2016 collections that I haven’t been able to share yet. Otherwise, I won’t be able to focus on all the amazing shades I’m sure 2017 has in store.

Looking back at my first posts, my blog has grown a lot in the last year, and I hope to continue that growth in 2017. I plan to keep working on improving my posts, pictures, and manis, and have set a few goals to that end. Hopefully I’ll look back at this post in a year and have been successful.

Here are A Journey in Color’s 2017 Goals:

  • Improve Photos, Posts, and Manis
  • Keep a consistent blogging schedule and stay up-to-date on Instagram
  • Share more of the polishes I buy (and of course, keep my buying to a reasonable limit)
  • Continue to grow my readership, including on Facebook and Instagram
  • Try watermarbling

Last of all for this year, I’ll be using a new tool for blogging. I’ve had some computer challenges on and off for the last year, because I use a fairly old laptop. I’ve decided to upgrade to an iPad, and will be getting a keyboard so I can blog with ease. Hopefully it’ll be a great tool for me moving forward, but bear with me as I get used to it. I never though I’d use an iPad to take photos, but it has a better camera than my current, so maybe I’ll have to give it a try…

Update On My Poor, Sad Nails and Hands

As I mentioned in my last post in early December, my nails took a pretty hard hit after Thanksgiving. I was lax about painting them, and as I tend to have fairly thin nails that are prone to flaking, I really need the protection that polish offers. I broke pretty much every single nail throughout the month, and they’ve been pretty short since. I took it as an opportunity to try growing them out with a more rounded shape, which has thus far been unsuccessful. January will be a continuation of this experiment; if it doesn’t work, I’ll go back to my square/squoval shape from last year. In the meantime, you can bear with me as I grow them out again, and I’ll try to share what products I find that work best for me.

Final Thoughts

I’m really excited for this next year, and I hope you’re excited, too. I’m looking forward to positive changes and everything 2017 has to offer. I’m always interested in your feedback, comments, and questions, so don’t hesitate to comment here or on my Facebook page, or email me at ajourneyincolor@gmail.com.

Happy Polishing!
